The aggregator has been financially drained by a five-year legal battle with HMRC

Insurancewide.com, one of the original online aggregators launched in 1999, will cease trading by the end of August unless a buyer can be found.

The aggregator has been financially drained by a five-year legal battle with Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) over the company’s right to VAT exemption on the sale of insurance policies. HMRC has applied to the Court of Appeal to challenge the High Court ruling two months ago in favour of Insurancewide.
