The Insurance Times Premium Content conference in Wolverhampton provided a few moments of light relief among some intense learning.

Among the highlights was Chris Blackham's opening morning speech. The chairman of Layton Blackham played to the audience of baying brokers at the expense of Norwich Union's intermediary business director Ken Wallace and Royal & SunAlliance's distribution director Brendan McManus, who were also on the panel.

Blackham's finest moment was when he drew a parallel between the big insurers and dinosaurs.

"No one within range of the tail or feet of the dinosaur can challenge the blinkered and obviously incorrect strategy that has been set in its small brain that is so far away from reality at ground level," he said.

While Blackham got a big laugh, Backchat wonders who will get the last one.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
