Regulator finds small number of errors in home and motor

A Financial Regulator inspection of the eight largest home Irish home insurers found some failed to pay agreed claims within the 10-days required.

It also said those wanting to settle claim using only preferred repairers and suppliers must states that before selling the policies. It also said insurers would be responsible for the quality of such repairs.

A review of motor insurers found a small number of cases where the 15 day rule for issuing renewals had been breached. Some renewal documentation issued did not contain some information required by the regulations.

The household insures were responsible for over 98% of the claims processed during the review period. The motor insurers were the nine largest.
