Insurance Times editor Andy Cook was voted best journalist writing for a general insurance publication at the ABI Financial Media Awards last week.

Features reporter Michael Faulkner was shortlisted for best up-and-coming financial journalist.

Faulkner was the only journalist writing for a business magazine to make the three-strong shortlist in the category, which is dominated by the national daily papers.

Faulkner won best newcomer at the Biba journalism awards earlier this year.

Insurance Times was also shortlisted for general insurance publication of the year in the awards that are voted for by the press officers of insurance companies, banks and financial institutions.

This follows the Periodical Publishers Association (the industry body for the entire magazine industry), shortlisting Insurance Times for business magazine of the year in 2002 and shortlisting Cook for business magazine editor of the year in 2003.

In the last independent survey of Biba members, Insurance Times was voted the best general insurance publication.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
