This is your last week to enter our crazy claims competition. A bottle of champagne goes to the most ridiculous claim we receive before the end of the year.

Thanks to Paul Cheal of its4me for this one. A woman was curling her hair with electric tongs, when she heard a crash. She rushed to the bathroom to find her daughter had knocked a valuable vase into the bath, cracking the enamel and shattering the vase. Upon returning, she found the tongs she'd hurriedly put down had set light to the sofa. She removed them, put the fire out, only to turn round and find a crack in the glass-topped coffee table where she'd just put... the tongs.

The woman had an accidental damage extension on her policy and the claim was paid in full.
