Backpackers claim theft on Brazil bus, but items said to be hidden in lockers

Two Sussex University law students, Shanti Andrews and Rebecca Turner have been arrested in Brazil accused of insurance fraud and could face five years' jail, The Sun reports.

The pair claimed belongings worth about £1,000 had been stolen on a bus.

But officers searched the girls' hostel in Rio de Janeiro and found the goods in their lockers.

The students' lawyer, Sergio Ricardo da Rocha Pita, claims they were robbed but had mistaken which items were stolen.
