Backchat was intrigued to read of an Axa spokesman called Pete Layer in the News of the World on April 1, who claimed that the company had persuaded the Football Association to hold the cup final at Wembley after all.
Layer was quoted as saying: “The pitch is currently being relaid. We are also refurbishing the stadium, but it may not be quite finished by the time of the final and some fans will need to bring their own seats.”
Given the date and the name of the spokesman, we think the paper may have been having a little joke.
Axa claims that the sponsorship team was in on the fun.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
