Coronation Street stalwart Bill Roach, who, as Ken Barlow, recently admitted to police crashing his car when the driver was actually his banned-from-driving and uninsured son, has signed up with Ward Evans for financial advice.

Roach has signed up initially for life assurance. Ward Evans director Niall Gunn (left), said: “Coronation street celebrated its first 40 years with a live broadcast and we did explain to Bill that we offer life assurance not live assurance.”

Roach received an MBE in the New Year's honours list.
