Structural damage caused by Hurricane Kenna has been "surprisingly light", according to loss adjuster Cunningham Lindsey.

Despite widespread flooding by rain and sea surge along Mexico's Pacific coast, the damage caused by the hurricane was limited. It brought down poles and towers causing business interruption to both telephones and electricity supplies.

Cunningham Lindsey has been appointed as loss adjuster for the Puerta Vallarta area hit by the storms. The company has drafted in additional staff from other offices in the region to cope with the workload, it said.

The main focus of the damage was sustained in the Pacific resort of Puerta Vallarta. The main highway to the city was closed during Friday morning, while the local hospital became the local emergency centre for the storm.
