Catlin Westgen Group (CWGL) is to increase its underwriting capacity on Lloyd's Syndicate 2003 by raising $532m (£349m) of new capital. The money will also be used to start underwriting through Bermudian offshoot, Catlin Insurance Company. This will write a 20% quota share on the syndicate to allow the Lloyd's operation to write more business.

SVBS has also arranged a qualified quota share reinsurance deal for £15m with Berkshire Hathaway on its wholly owned Syndicate 2147. The deal is subject to Lloyd's consent. SVB Underwriting can write up to £371m of premium.
