A ferry that caught fire and listed in the Philippines on 27 February was insured for
£12m on an excess hull slip led at Lloyd's, sources said.
Witnesses reported a powerful explosion triggered the fire.
More than a hundred of the 899 passengers and crew are still missing following the disaster. Four deaths have been confirmed.
The vessel had liability cover from Steamship Insurance Management Services, claimed a report.
