Staff told of consultations yesterday

Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed that 70 insurance jobs are at risk in Newport after a restructure, the BBC reports.

The staff were told of the consultations yesterday.

The group employs about 900 staff at its Tredegar Park office, and Lloyds said some staff could find other roles within the company.

The news comes after the company announced 200 job losses across the UK, mainly in its insurance division.

Unite national officer David Fleming has called for Lloyds chief executive Antonio Horta-Osorio to stop the cuts.
