The Lloyd's Market Association (LMA), the single body representing underwriting businesses at Lloyd's, has restructured its technical teams to form a marine aviation and transport (MAT) team.
The former aviation and marine teams have been merged and the new MAT team is headed up by Neil Smith, marine aviation and transport manager.
The MAT team will serve the marine and aviation sectors of the Lloyd's market, including energy and space business, by providing technical services to committees, working parties and business panels and by representing the interests of marine and aviation insurers both within the market and beyond.
Simon Sperryn, LMA chief executive, said: "These changes will strengthen and streamline the technical service offered by the LMA and will create greater flexibility, enabling resource to be applied where needed by the membership."
In another change designed to strengthen the LMA's technical expertise, Jonathan Webster has joined as claims executive.
The LMA said Webster would manage claims activities and reforms across all sectors and provide secretarial support and services to the claims community. He previously worked for nine years at Equitas, the reinsurance and run-off vehicle for Lloyd's.
The LMA has also appointed Bill Rendall as market liaison manager. He will keep in close touch with the market and Lloyd's Franchise Performance Directorate.
The association said Tim Willcock had been promoted to underwriting and claims manager, responsible for the services provided to marine, non-marine and aviation underwriters and to the claims community.
It also said Willcock would join the association's senior team of four, whose role was to set the direction and drive the performance of the LMA.
Martin Roberts has also been appointed as non-marine manager.
