Former Howden manager to lead growth plan for two Lloyd’s brokers

Mike Lobb, MD of US Risk (UK)

Mike Lobb (pictured) has been appointed managing director of US Risk (UK), the parent company of Oxford Insurance Brokers and James Hampden International Insurance Brokers.

Lobb joins the company from international insurance brokerage Howden Broking Group (HBG), where he was chief of staff.

Over a 10-year career with the group, he also served as managing director of Howden Retail and business development manager with Howden Risk Partners.

Holding company

US Risk (UK) is a holding company of US Risk Insurance Group, a specialty lines underwriting manager and wholesale broker.

The US parent company’s founder and chief executive, Randal Goss, is executive chairman of Oxford Insurance Brokers and James Hampden International. The management of the two British brokerages remains unchanged.

Goss: “Mike’s appointment is an excellent step in the evolution of US Risk (UK)’s growth plans. It speaks volumes about the potential and opportunities within the organisation.

“His background, experience and energy makes him ideally placed to instil structure in the organisation, and lead US Risk (UK) and its subsidiary companies into its next phase of development within the London market and internationally.

Growth in fragmented market

Lobb said: “US Risk (UK) has established an excellent platform from which to grow in a market that remains fragmented.  The experience held within the trading companies and our shareholders places us ideally for expanding both organically and through acquisition to deliver profitable growth.

“It is exciting times for the group. In the coming months we will broaden our underwriting and broking operations in the UK, London and international markets.”

Oxford Insurance Brokers and James Hampden International are London-based Lloyd’s insurance and reinsurance brokers specialising in the global commercial and professional markets.
