Quin Lovis, the active underwriter of Highway Syndicates 37 and 2037 for the past 15 years, is taking early retirement from June 30 after a hand-over period which started this week (April 11).

Technical underwriter David Murray is likely to replace Lovis, subject to Lloyd's approval.

But Ockham Holdings, Highway's parent company, is introducing a more structured management approach, along the lines of a typical insurance company.

Andrew Gibson, managing director of Highway Insurance and Ockham Personal Insurance Agency, is responsible for the day-to-day management of Highway.

Lovis will remain as an underwriting consultant to the business and as a non-executive director of Highway Insurance and Ockham Personal Insurance Agency. He will continue as chairman of Highway's broker club.

Ockham Holdings, the parent company, is moving more of its Highway business out of Lloyd's.
