Spanish reinsurer Mapfre Re has joined the panel of inreon, the internet-based reinsurance trading platform. This will increase the scope of reinsurance cover offered by the panel.

Inreon's chairman, Kaj Ahlmann, said: "Mapfre Re has established an impressive reputation writing business from Spain, Latin America and across the world.

"The group is well known for its long-term reinsurance relationships and for providing secure, high quality cover," he added.

Inreon is holding a conference for the Spanish insurance industry on 4 April in Madrid.
