Cracknell to lead UK team of 80

Aon Risk Services has appointed Mark Cracknell as CEO of Aon Marine in the UK.

Leading a team of 80 based in London and the UK regions, Mark will be responsible for servicing marine clients both directly and through the global Aon Specialty network.

In addition, he will continue to boost revenues and represent the UK on Aon’s global marine executive headed by Steve Beslity.

Mark brings 20 years’ experience in marine underwriting and insurance broking, with knowledge of the global marine markets. He was previously team leader of marine in London for Benfield Corporate Risk, which integrated into Aon in December 2008.

Steve Beslity, CEO of Aon Global Marine, said: “Mark brings his talent as an underwriter and broker, coupled with a vision of delivering the best client service and leadership. Notably, his understanding of protection & indemnity insurance is crucial as the cover now accounts for 50% of a ship owner’s spend in comparison to roughly 20% two decades ago.”

Rob Woods, CEO of Aon Specialty in the UK, added: “Mark is a well respected marine practitioner and we congratulate him on his appointment. I look forward to working with him as we continue to build our marine business in the UK by delivering specialist expertise to our global clients.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
