Current manager Ed Pugh taking sabbatical for personal project

AXA has recruited Mark Holloway to manage its Birmingham branch.

Holloway will join in July from Travelers where he has worked for four years, most recently as Birmingham’s branch development manager.

The move is a return to AXA, where he held a variety of underwriting and account management roles for 10 years.

Holloway will replace current branch manager Ed Pugh, who is taking a sabbatical to work on a personal project and plans to return to the industry early next year.

AXA said Holloway and Pugh would work closely on a two-month handover. Once completed, Holloway will have full responsibility for profit and loss of the branch, its underwriting appetite and sales.

Commenting on the appointment, Matthew Reed, managing director of commercial intermediary at AXA, said: “Ed has had three successful years as a branch manager at AXA, both in Reading and Birmingham, and I would like to wish him all the best for the future.

“We are very fortunate to have been able to replace Ed with someone of Mark’s calibre and it is always great to welcome back an old AXA employee.

“The handover period will ensure that this is a smooth transition and that brokers will not experience any disruption to their trading relationship with AXA.”

Holloway added: “It is good to be coming back to AXA and I am looking forward to building on the great work that Ed and his team have already done in re-establishing AXA as a force in the region.”
