The three-way tussle for Safeway will have brokers at Marsh hoping for a Sainsbury's win.

Marsh is the incumbent broker for Safeway, while HSBC is the broker for William Morrison, whose account recently moved from SBJ.

Marsh is also the broker for Sainsbury's and is one of two brokers used by Asda, the third bidder for the supermarket chain.

Asda also uses Willis and is renewing its insurance contracts during February and March, according to Asda head of risk management and loss prevention Mark Whitby.
