Marsh has sold the opportunity to invite renewals for a large book of personal lines business to Norwich Union (NU) Direct.

The deal comes after a 12-month review of Marsh's private client business. UK head of private client services at Marsh, Barry O'Neill, said: "Following this review, we have made the decision to enhance our offering to certain lines of private client business.

"As a consequence, we will no longer be arranging cover for some other books." O'Neill said that arrangements have been made with "several insurance brokers and insurers" to transfer the business.

In its deal with Marsh, NU has acquired the renewal rights to approximately 13,000 policies split evenly between motor and household business, with a small number of associated travel and personal
