Charles Taylor Adjusting and Davies Group to validate the claims

Insurers have made around 3000 claims to the Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA) to try to recoup money paid out for the recent rioting in London.

Charles Taylor Adjusting and Davies Group have been appointed by the MPA to sift through the 3000 claims to check and validate them. The final decisions on compensation will be made by the MPA.

The Riot Damages Act lets insurers claim back some of the money they have paid out for the rioting from the relevant police authorities. Insurers had 42 days to notify police authorities of riot claims.

Insurers will not be able to recover all of the money they pay out. For example, the MPA and Merseyside Police Authority will not compensate insurers for business interruption claims based on their interpretation of the Riot Damages Act.
