Mondial Assistance has announced the split of its international medical and motor assistance department into two areas.

The restructuring of the international department will create a one-stop-shop for medical assistance. The move follows the recent upsurge in medical assistance activity since the division's launch in 2000.

Steve Hook, national sales manager for the Corporate and Financial Services Division of Mondial said: "Medical cases need to be handled with care and consideration, therefore it is essential that the co-ordinators are experts in their relevant fields.

"One in five cases end in repatriation where the customer cannot take their original flight and Mondial carries out a high number of air ambulance evacuations every year based on medical necessity."

Mondial hopes the move will enable it to cut costs and benefit from efficiency gains. Hook added: "The right first time resource by introducing one point of contact for each customer."
