A new web-based claims application has been launched by business process specialists, Staffware and Tower Technology.
The system, eClaims, lets brokers, intermediaries and policyholders initiate, view and process claims over the web.
Tower Technology managing director Damian Hyland said: "Historically, when a policyholder filed a claim, processing the initial batch of documents could take several weeks.
"This way, the relevant documents are scanned immediately and further correspondence can take place over the internet."
The two firms claim the system will alleviate pressure on call centres that until now have had to field hundreds of enquiries about the status of claims.
