Peter Austin steps in to takeover role

Zenith Insurance has appointed Peter Austin as its new chief executive.

Austin replaces Derek Wiley, who has been interim boss following Steve Tidd's departure last year.

Wiley will leave his post at the end of the month, with Austin taking over leadership of the company from April.

Jeff Mack, chief executive of parent company Guardian Holdings, said: “Derek’s tenure allowed the company time to review our requirements for structure, leadership and management of the Zenith business.

“We extend our thanks to Derek for stepping in and for his efforts during the last nine months.”

Austin has held a number of different roles within the Guardian Holdings group both in the UK and in Trinidad & Tobago.

In a statement, Guardian Holdings said it "has every confidence that Peter will meet the challenges brought on by the current global financial crisis and will ensure that the European operations move forward effectively."
