Marsh talks recession

Marsh will be advising clients on how to handle the recession, in its second annual conference prompted by the global financial crisis. Speakers at the event, to be held at London’s Andaz Hotel on Tuesday, include shadow minister Francis Maude, AIG UK chief executive Lex Baugh and Marsh UK chief executive Martin South.

Aon bags man from the Pru

Aon has appointed Simon Allen as chief operating officer, subject to FSA approval. He will also sit on the board for Aon Ltd. Allen was previously chief operations officer at Prudential.

Marsh drops phone scheme

Marsh is pulling its mobile phone insurance scheme, following a review of the business. The broker will wind down the scheme over the next six months. Mobile phone networks, including O2, will now begin tenders to find new partners for their insurance contracts.

Moneysupermarket up 5%

Moneysupermarket.com reported Q3 revenues were 5% ahead of Q3 2008 and more than 15% ahead of the H1 run rate, driven by increasing visitor numbers. The motor insurance channel returned to mid single-digit percentage growth in Q3, having declined over the first six months.
