’They will continue under their existing leadership and retain their regional identities,’ says chief executive

JMG Group has continued its regional expansion with the acquisition of three brokers.

The three acquired firms are Solihull’s Boston Insurance Brokers, Kendal’s Hayton Insurance Brokers and Edinburgh-based Gateway Insurance Services. JMG Group said the deals expand its commercial expertise, Lake District presence and Scottish foothold.

Nick Houghton, JMG Group chief executive, said: “We’re investing in great businesses with great people and these are no exception.

”They will continue under their existing leadership and retain their regional identities, ensuring business continuity for clients, while benefiting from our enhanced trading capabilities, market access and investment that comes with being part of a larger group.”

Boston was founded in 1994 by Gerry Boston and is now led by his son Rob Boston.

The family business, which has built relationships throughout the UK construction industry and with general commercial clients over three decades, will retain its independent approach while gaining access to wider insurance markets through JMG Group.

Meanwhile, Hayton marks JMG Group’s first step into the Lake District.

Founder Neil Hayton, who has 27 years of industry experience, will continue to lead the business, which is becoming part of JMG Group-owned JM Glendinning.

Finally, Gateway, founded by managing director Gareth McCallum in 2015, will become part of the group’s Scottish subsidiary, GS Group.

The deal gives GS Group its first base in Edinburgh and adds to Gateway’s presence in Glasgow and Fife, where it serves SME and personal clients across sectors including hospitality and construction.
