It hopes to address the issue of claims being shrugged off as somebody else’s problem

Romero Insurance Brokers has partnered with MGA Qlaims Insurance in a bid to extend its claims support to commercial property clients.

It hopes to stand out from competitors with this claims proposition which will see the independent brokerage offer loss recovery insurance from Qlaims Insurance to clients across its brands including Romero and Club Insure.

This offer aims to guarantee a dedicated loss adjuster will review commercial property claims of over £5,000 within hours and an advisory service to settle the claim on the client’s behalf.

It means that clients and staff from Romero will also be able to track live progress of their claim online 24/7 through Qlaims’ portal QlaimsTrak.

Broker battleground

Simon Mabb, Romero’s managing director, said claims assistance was becoming a “battleground” between brokers and an area his business has chosen to focus on.

He explained: “From our perspective, claims are an opportunity to shine. Especially when so many brokers shrug it off as someone else’s problem.

“Too many clients are experiencing worsening service from insurers at their time of need and it’s our job to make sure they don’t face needless delays.”

How will it work?

Romero’s claims team will work closely with Qlaims Insurance to ensure a fast service even during surge events such as recent floods.

It employs 180 staff across six offices in Leeds, Manchester, Halifax, Stockton, Nottingham and London and places £90m GWP on behalf of its clients.

“Partnering with Qlaims will give our clients access to a strong bench of technical and expert advice, ultimately strengthening the team that fights their corner and gets their claim paid faster,” Mabb said.

Every day counts

Qlaims Insurance chief development officer Mike Keating said: “Every day counts for small businesses if they suffer a major loss or disruption, with figures indicating that up to 40% of businesses never recover.

“We’re delighted to partner with Romero. We set up the business to help independent brokers be heroes for their clients and will do just that for Simon and the team.”

Keating has previously held positions as managing director of One Commercial as well as managing director of intermediary and partnerships at AXA.

Qlaims Insurance launched in November 2019 with A++ capacity provided by HSB Engineering Insurance.

It is available to Acturis users and plans to expand to other software platforms in 2020.
