Norwich Union has denied reports that it is due to announce the closure of up to five regional offices serving brokers this week.

A spokeswoman for the insurer said: “We have a wide geographical spread of offices across the UK but we have no plans to close any of these locations in the near future.”

Last week the insurer closed a branch in Guernsey, following a review of its insurance services on the Channel island.

The insurer said it took the action because it had found it difficult to maintain staffing levels at the office, which only had two workers.

But the spokeswoman for the insurer said that insurance customers on Guernsey would continue to be served by the island's broking community.
