Norwich Union has wrapped up a deal to offer exclusive quotes for Kwik Fit Insurance Services' Ford-driver customers.

Kwik Fit has a total of around 300,000 policyholders, one fifth of whom are Ford drivers.

For other vehicles, Kwik Fit operates with a panel of ten big-name insurers, including Axa, NIG and RSA.This latest move means all NU's rivals on the Kwik Fit panel will not be able to quote for Ford drivers.

Ford has been developing a one-stop-service for Ford-drivers and has already created Fordinsure with NU. This is a product that Ford offers buyers of new cars to help them to obtain insurance quickly and at

competitive rates.

Kwik Fit as a group was taken over by Ford Motor Company in April 1999.

Kwik-Fit Insurance Services managing director Eric Sanderson, said: "We have worked closely with NU over the past five years, and our strong relationship with them and with Ford now allows us to offer this bespoke product to our Ford customers.

"This partnership is another significant step in passing on the benefits of our strong links with Ford and Norwich Union to our customers."

There was a mixed response from rival insurers on the Kwik Fit panel. Axa said it is currently reviewing its portfolio of Ford business, but it could not comment.

A spokesman for RSA added: "We recognise Ford's wish to maximise its return on its Kwik Fit purchase and its Norwich Union Ford Insure deal."
