Norwich Union (NU) has held talks with Corporate Solutions, the consultancy that assisted creditors in the Ward Evans insolvency.

The insurer is looking to minimise the risk of losing business in the event of one of its brokers becoming insolvent.

Corporate Solutions played a key role in saving Ward Evans creditors around £1m.

In the Ward Evans case, Corporate Solutions put together a deal for the administrator which allowed Giles Insurance Brokers to purchase Ward Evans' book of business and avoid a messy liquidation.

Commenting on the Ward Evans insolvency, Andrew Castle of Corporate Solutions said: "If the Ward Evans business had been broken up, the team may have taken the business to, say, 20 other brokers and then they may have placed the other business with other insurers."

NU intermediary business director Ken Wallace confirmed talks with Corporate Solutions had taken place.

"I met with Corporate Solutions, and I think their services might be useful if any of our brokers got into trouble," he said.
