As predicted by Insurance Times last month a Government department will be given the powers to regulate claims management companies.
It is understood the Lord Chancellor, Lord Falconer will hand the necessary powers to the Office of Fair Trading.
The Claims Standards Council and the FSA had both been touted as possible regulators. Last month, Insurance Times learned the role would be given to a Government agency allowing Lord Falconer to maintain a degree of control.
