HSBC Bank is predicting a 300% rise in the number of people shopping online for Christmas this year.

One in seven people will buy presents over the internet this season compared to one in 20 last year.

Interactive shopping is also likely to be a hit, as nearly a quarter of festive spenders would like to buy through their television set if they could.

The increase in cyber shopping is driven by men, who are twice as likely as women to shop online. Most of them will be aged between 18-34.
