The Financial Service Consumer Panel has rejected the Treasury's proposal to implement CAT standards, saying they were likely to do more harm than good.
The 13-strong panel believes the standards are set too low and that they are to open to differences in interpretation.
Instead, the panel has endorsed the government's proposals to bring long-term care insurance within the remit of the Financial Services Authority.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
