Windstorm Dirk hit the UK and France at the end of last year

Windstorm Dirk will cost insurers €275m (£225.5m), according to catastrophe data firm PERILS.

The estimate covers insured property losses.

Dirk battered the UK and France between 23 and 25 December 2013.

The majority of the losses occurred in Southern England in the UK and in Brittany and Normandy in France. The resulting storm surge and heavy rain caused localised flooding.

PERILS will release an updated estimate on 23 March.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
