Review of flood response will criticise industry, according to reports.
Sir Michael Pitt’s report on the response to last summer’s floods will make serious criticisms of the insurance industry, according to reports at the weekend.
Pitt is expected to call for radical new forms of insurance policies, which would protect whole communities.
He is also expected to condemn the low take up rate of home insurance in flood-prone areas, and call for a major advertising campaign to increase it.
Pitt will also recommend that the government and insurance industry jointly fund research on ways to speed up the drying out of flooded homes, the Times reported on Saturday.
