Fraud squad officers have raided the premises of Scottish broker Grant Scott.

The swoop was made by the Central Scotland police fraud unit. It is thought there may be hundreds of instances involving brokers in Northern Ireland where Grant Scott has accepted premiums without actually placing cover.

A spokesman for Central Scotland police confirmed that an investigation was underway.

"We've had complaints about the way Grant Scott is carrying out insurance business and we have executed a search warrant."

Grant Scott formerly sold insurance on behalf of a company called Tribune Insurance.

But a Tribune spokesman said: "We cancelled our agency with Grant Scott in January when certain activities came to light."

In its last accounts filed with Companies House, Grant Scott's profit was £3,571 for the year ended 3 September 2001. Grant Scott is listed as the sole director of the company, which ceased to be a member of GISC in April 2002.

It is understood that a large number of Masonic lodges in Scotland had dealings with Grant Scott.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
