Ppp Healthcare has rejected reports that it has accumulated a backlog of unpaid claims for policyholders' hospital treatment, following complaints from some patients that they have received demands for payment from hospitals several months after undergoing treatment.

A PPP spokesman admitted the company had been late in paying some claims, partly because of higher than expected staff turnover and sick absence in its claims department during last winter. But, he added, PPP had released some of its customer service staff to tackle any unpaid claims.

As a result, he said: “We have cleared the vast majority of claims more than 30 days old.”
