Long way off coping with extreme weather

The findings of Parliament’s Food and Rural Affairs Committee inquiry into the government’s response to last year’s floods make grim reading.

It seems that despite the extra money, we are still a long way from being able to cope with extreme weather.

The failures of government and local authorities should also act as a timely reminder for insurers to do everything they can to ensure their own response to these disasters is fast and efficient.

Technology that allows for digital storage of policy documents and receipts is just one solution insurers can offer their clients to facilitate the claims process.

While MPs have been examining their performance, it is also important for insurers to do all they can to further enhance their level of preparedness, before the next disaster strikes.
