Professional Risks Insurance (PRI) signed up a clutch of names to key posts after officially launching last week.

The specialist liability insurer, which raised £125m by placing shares with institutional investors in June, has appointed Richard Clapham, previously of Markel, to become operations director.

He is joined by Jonathan Boyns, previously of Lloyd's operator Denham, who becomes claims director, and Steve Heming who becomes compliance officer.

The appointments are among the final moves to complete the staff.

The underwriting team is already close to full strength.

The company is finalising a deal to outsource its claims handling operations.

Chief executive Andreas Loucaides told Insurance Times PRI would retain management control of the operation, but clients' claims would be dealt with by a third party.

PRI's professional indemnity team will be led by underwriting manager Andrew Dore, with underwriters Warren Jones, Dominic Frost, Lindsay Noble and Joanne Linford. Its medical malpractice team will be led by Peter Matson with Bill Edrich, Louise Freeman and Guy Tippett.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
