A new EDI travel insurance product hits the market this month following a team-up between Primary International and a division of Roadlink, called Travellink.

As well as providing point of sale and fulfilment software, Travellink will supply all the marketing material and all IT assistance to ensure the product is marketed successfully.

The IT and software comes free of charge. There are currently two versions – one for the Misys system and a stand-alone version. The stand-alone version includes full accounting and reporting functionality.

Both calculate the net premium, gross premium, IPT and commission levels, issue a certificate and pass the information electronically to the underwriter.

Surrey broker John Collins Insurance was the first to go live with the product last week. "Travel insurance has always been problematic to write," said partner Carl Gaywood.

"With confusing guides, commission tables, manual cover notes, manual borderaux and low premiums we have often turned business away rather than have the headache.

"This software sits on our Misys system, so there is no dual data entry. It calculates the net premium, gross premium, IPT and commission levels to our choosing, issues the certificate and passes the information to the underwriter. It couldn't be easier."

Roadlink has more than 200 brokers agents nationwide.
