Stone Point Capital could take stake in reinsurance specialist

Private equity house Stone Point Capital is in negotiations to buy a stake in Lloyd’s broker RK Carvill.

A Carvill spokesman told The Sunday Telegraph: "We have been working closely for a couple of months with Stone Point Capital to evaluate options for the firm. No decision has been made".

If the deal is concluded it could net the broker’s founder, Rory Carvill, millions of pounds. Carvill, who is now chairman of the company, founded the UK-based broker RK Carvill & Co in 1977.

Stone Point is an American buy-out fund that specialises in financial services.
