AA tyre cover
The AA is offering annual tyre cover for less than 10p a day. It believes this will be popular as it estimates this year 300,000 tyres will be replaced at its own AA Service Centres.

The AA Tyre Insurance covers puncture repairs and will also replace up to four tyres, following accidental or malicious damage.

Managing director Andrew Briscoe commented: "For many drivers, the anticipated costs of running a car are daunting.

"Certainly, no one welcomes having to pay for accidental or malicious tyre damage. For a small annual outlay, such unpleasant surprises are kept in check."

Injured drivers plan
About 250,000 DIY enthusiasts injure themselves every year, according to Longford Insurance Services - and it says the figures will peak this Easter.

Injuries can affect motorists, who rely on their cars to travel to work, meetings and the school run.

Longford has a policy, Chauffeurplan which covers the hire of a chauffeur, taxis and trains until motorists are able to drive again.

Premiums start at £6.50 per month.

Beazley PI website
Lloyd's syndicate Beazley has redesigned and relaunched its Eazypro.com website in response to broker feedback.

The website enables brokers in London and the US to buy professional indemnity (PI) cover online. It is specifically intended to provide Lloyd's insurance coverage to small and medium-sized US businesses.

The website is claimed to be the first to offer online documentation in the US. Beazley said the site was now more efficient and user-friendly, and provided dynamic data for brokers.

Eazypro manager Liz Strange said: "While the UK and American markets are hardening, many US brokers would like access to the Lloyd's market in such an efficient way."

Strange added that the volume of business merited a person permanently based in the US. As a result she would be moving.

The website was developed and constructed by Wildnet Group, the e-commerce services provider.

Guarantee insurer
A new insurer has been launched to cover 20-year treatment guarantees for property damage caused by woodworm and damp.

Following authorisation by the FSA, specialist guarantee provider Guarantee Protection Trust has now formed Guarantee Protection Insurance Co Ltd (GPI).

The company, backed by £2.7m in contingency reserves, will cover 20-year treatment guarantees for woodworm, damp-proofing, wood rot and replacement wall ties. The ten-year guarantees will also be available for structural waterproofing.

GPI has over 300,000 guarantees now in place with national bodies, local authorities, housing associations and private homes. Insurance support for the guarantees, previously underwritten by third-party providers, will now be managed internally.

Alf Baxendale will be chief executive of GPI and GPA, with GPT and GPI company secretary Shirley Priest as GPA director and company secretary.
