Claims for negligence spiral. Lawyers face biggest rise

Finance firm Syscap says claims filed in the High Court for negligence against professional services increased by 125% last year from 147 to 332 to the highest level in more than a decade, the Times reports.

Solicitors faced the most lawsuits, with negligence claims rising from 80 in 2008 to 210 last year. The number of claims against property agents and surveyors rose from one to 25.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
