Mark Beattie joins London property team

QBE has appointed Mark Beattie to its London property underwriting team.

Beattie has been appointed as portfolio manager for a segment of London market brokers, and, in addition to direct underwriting activity, his responsibilities will include leading a team of specialist new and renewal business underwriters.

He will report to Peter Fice, head of London market property for QBE.

Beattie was previously the London region underwriter for Brit Insurance, responsible for the development of the property business via the national brokers. Before joining Brit in 2004, he was a senior property underwriter for Charringtons / DJ Pye Syndicate 962, where he set up a UK commercial property account.

Bernard Mageean, managing director of QBE’s Property division, said: “Mark brings with him a wealth of experience that further strengthens our growing property business for the UK. Our continuing recruitment of some of the market’s most talented individuals demonstrates the growing buzz around our property business, and the fact that we are fast becoming seen as the underwriter of choice in this area.”

Meanwhile, QBE has appointed Helena Christopher as head of its newly established corporate communications team.

Christopher has been with QBE for over eight years, during which time she has held a variety of marketing-related roles.
