Loss adjuster creates counter fraud division

QuestGates has launched a counter fraud division and taken a stake in a surveillance company.

The loss adjuster has recruited Tracy Holder, who was previously head of investigations at solicitors Hill Dickinson, to head the division.

QuestGates has taken an equity interest in Quantum Surveillance. With some of its operations unrelated to insurance work, Quantum will remain a separate company but QuestGates’ central services director, Brian Polley, will join its board of directors and surveillance will be added to the QuestGates portfolio as a fully integrated service, Questgates said.

Holder will report on strategic issues to QuestGates director Ross Macpherson and will work with the other divisional heads, including Steve Thompson, manager of the company’s motor division.

“Having worked with QuestGates people in the past in connection with fraud conspiracy cases, I am looking forward to heading up this new division which will seek to extend QuestGates record for innovation and service delivery to fraud detection,” said Holder.

QuestGates managing director, Chris Hall, said: “While initiatives such as the formation of the Insurance Fraud Bureau in 2006 and the subsequent launch of Cheatline have shown that the insurance industry has the will to combat fraud, our research indicates that there is still a need for suppliers who are prepared to look for alternative methods of identifying and proving fraud.

"We already have a strong reputation in this area, particularly in the Motor and Liability sectors. The recruitment of Tracy, together with our surveillance capabilities, enables us to develop and deliver new services, helping the insurance industry to grasp opportunities which arise from the likes of the City of London police fraud reduction strategy.”

Jonathan Hayes for Quantum said: “We identified QuestGates as a dynamic and successful company whose management reflected our own high standards of professionalism and customer service. We are excited by the opportunities to develop and deliver market leading services and look forward to working with the QuestGates team.”
