Run-off buyer and underwriting agency Randall & Quilter (R&Q) has hired ex-Aviva underwriter Neil Tuvey as a marine underwriter.

At Aviva, Tuvey was UK marine trading manager.

In his new role at R&Q, Tuvey will be responsible for developing the marine cargo, freight and commercial hull lines of business at R&Q’s managing general agency (MGA) business.

He will report to Paul Miller, director of underwriting at R&Q Marine Services, an underwriting insurance agency specialising in the marine industry and part of R&Q MGA.

R&Q MGA chief executive Nicholas Hales said: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Neil. He has a well-established reputation in the industry and his joining highlights R&Q’s ambition to grow the marine services portfolio. R&Q is committed to expanding our global MGA platform and adding someone of Neil’s experience and background to the team is another important step.”

Tuvey added: “I am very pleased to be joining R&Q, it is widely respected within the market and offers a compelling platform from which underwriters can do business. I am looking forward to helping further develop the offering of the R&Q MGA platform.”
