Police were called to a Royal & Sunalliance office in Liverpool on Friday, when a couple barricaded themselves behind the reception area.

Officers were forced to break down an internal wall to reach the man and woman when negotiations broke down after a stalemate.

Managers called the police following a disagreement over a Motorbility scheme policy application at the office in Edmund Street, Liverpool.

Merseyside Police said a 47-year-old man and a woman aged 37 were arrested in connection with the incident for breach of the peace.

RSA was unable to comment.
