RSA is welcoming the unanimous decision from an employment tribunal regarding an application made by the financial workers union MSF. The decision follows hearings in February 1999 and February 2000 in Liverpool.

MSF filed an application alleging the insurer had failed to consult with the trade union prior to the company's merger in 1996.

Chris Evans, UK human resources director, said: "We have always been confident that throughout the merger process we behaved entirely correctly and fairly. We are pleased that the tribunal has ruled in our favour."
