Business process outsourcer Rubicon Group is gearing up to expand its general insurance claims service after being sold to fellow outsourcing firm EMR Technology Ventures.

Rubicon Claims, which is part of the Rubicon Group of companies that include Rubicon Health and Rubicon Inspections, is looking to extend its motor claims service to include household insurance as a result of the acquisition.

Rohit Arora, chairman of EMR, told Insurance Times: “We will be speaking to Rubicon management about whether to expand the range of services in the general insurance sector.

“Rubicon has a tremendous, exciting business in motor claims, but one of the things where there is some capability not yet fully developed is the area of household claims.”

Arora confirmed that EMR had taken immediate steps in its bid to grow the company by 20% year on year, by recruiting a business development team as well as head of claims in general insurance and healthcare.

The move by EMR, one of India’s leading business process outsourcing organisations, will also enable Rubicon to provide both onshore and offshore capabilities to clients.

It also represents the first step in EMR’s strategic expansion into Europe.

Arora added: “Our intention is to develop Rubicon as the European portal for our combined insurance services business and as such, it will remain a critical component of our business model going forward.”

Rubicon, which has an annual income of £10m, specialises in policy administration and claims manage-ment related services predominantly to blue-chip UK and European insurers, banks and household-name corporates.
