The cost of treating our forlorn furry friends following a fireworks show reached £1.6m last year, according to Sainbury’s Bank.

Although the source of this research may give some sceptics ‘paws’ for thought, Sainbury’s Bank has recommended consumers look for insurance that covers vet fees in excess of £3,500.

Otherwise don’t be surprised if you find your pup wandering listlessly around the house, buried snout-deep in a tub of Ben & Jerry’s when the fireworks end.
